SHIRLEY TEMPLE RECIPE

This Shirley Temple recipe is great for holiday parties with family, expectant mothers, or designated drivers! It’s the ultimate Kiddie Cocktail!
I don’t know about you, but I’m IN LOVE with Shirley Temples and will drink one any day of the week.
Long after turning 21, I still find myself ordering Shirley Temples at restaurants. If you like sweet drinks, there is just nothing better!

Shirley Temples are perfect for the holidays! Kids get to feel like grown-ups sipping on these pretty, bubbly treats and popping the maraschino cherries in their mouths. Adults can tap into the discrete bottle of vodka stashed away in the kitchen.
They are so easy, too: Just two ingredients!
Pour grenadine over ice and top with 7Up (or your preferred lemon-lime soda), and that’s it! Garnish with maraschino cherries if desired.
Depending on the ages of the kids in your group, you may want to have an adult on hand to supervise the making of the Shirley Temples. Otherwise, bring out a tray of prepared drinks and distribute amongst the kids yourself. I like to serve these in fun clear plastic cups; glassware and children just don’t mix.
Depending on the size of your cups and the age of your kids, adjust the amount of grenadine as you prepare the drinks. I think a ratio of 1 ounce grenadine-to-8 ounces of soda is a good ratio, but use more if you want to. It’s the holidays!
Speaking of over-indulgence, I show the drinks garnished with one maraschino cherry each but… let’s be honest. I am dumping 8 cherries in my drink, at least! I’ll have some Shirley Temple with my maraschino cherries, thank you very much!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 (12 ounce) bottle Grenadine
  • Ice
  • 1 (2 Liter) bottle lemon-lime soda
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnish, optional
